Linux Ubuntu 12.04 upgrade kernel to 3.4¶
When You have installed Ubuntu 12.04 - default kernel version is V3.2.
Linux_USB30_Support require to have the Linux kernel at least V3.4.
Check current version of kernel¶
Enter command to check version:
uname -sr
Upgrade¶
Use following to update kernel to 3.4 for x64:
wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-precise/linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb sudo reboot
Use following to update kernel to 3.4 for x32:
wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-precise/linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic-pae_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_i386.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic-pae_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_i386.deb sudo reboot
After reboot enter command:
uname -sr
Expected is Linux 3.4.0-030400-generic
